Discover the beauty of the Mountain Communities

Located at the gateway to Kern County surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest.  Our mountain community includes Frazier Park, Lebec, Gorman, Pine Mountain Club, Lake of the Woods, Lockwood Valley, Camp Scheideck, Cuddy Valley, Pinon Pines, Pyramid Lake and Grapevine California.

Frazier Park is located about an hour north of downtown Los Angeles just over the Kern County Line. Situated at almost 5000 feet, just 4 miles west of Interstate 5, our little mountain town provides a clean, comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.     Ridge Route Communities Museum and Historical Society

    The Ridge Route Communities Historical Society is dedicated to collecting and preserving the history and artifacts in the mountains south of Bakersfield and north of Castaic.

    A curated selection of photos and artifacts from the area's history can be viewed in the museum's exhibit room, and extensive files are available for visitors to explore and conduct research.

    The Ridge Route Preservation Organization is a 501(c)(3) California non-profit corporation committed to educating the public to the importance of California’s historic 1915 Ridge Route Highway, an engineering marvel that prevented California from separating into two separate states.

    Tejon Ranch Conservancy

    The Tejon Ranch Conservancy is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust dedicated to preserving, enhancing and restoring the native biodiversity and ecosystem values of Tejon Ranch.

    The Conservancy offers guided hikes, wildflower viewing, bird-watching, tours and other opportunities for the public to experience and explore this historical and ecological gem.

    Fort Tejon

    Fort Tejon was first garrisoned by the United States Army on August 10, 1854 and was abandoned ten years later on September 11, 1864.

    Los Padres National Forest

    Covering nearly two million acres, Los Padres National Forest features some of the most stunning and rugged landscapes in California, stretching from the mountains to the sea. The Mount Pinos Ranger District encompasses the area closest to us.

    Carrizo Plain National Monument

    Carrizo Plain is home to a diverse array of wildlife and plant species, including several that are listed as threatened or endangered. Notable features of the monument include the white alkali flats of Soda Lake, Painted Rock, expansive grasslands, and a broad plain surrounded by mountains.

    Wind Wolves Preserve

    Wind Wolves Preserve is the largest nonprofit nature preserve on the West Coast. Here, you can experience miles of waving golden grasslands, grazing tule elk, and vibrant carpets of wildflowers. The preserve offers educational opportunities, as well as activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and camping.
